Alsace region, then we have found the "Domaine Langmatt, near Murbach" to be a comfortable and pleasant stop en-route to Italy. |
Dordogne |
La Maison Grange - Roger Bowden, a motorcyclist for 38 years, has renovated an old Dordogne barn and converted part of it into self catering units. He has mixed the old with the new to provide a luxurious and comfortable holiday environment including a 14m x 6m salt-water swimming pool.

Grenoble |
On past trips to Corsica, the Club always stayed at the Hotel du Col de l'Arc in Lans-en-Vercors in the hills south west of Grenoble.

road up from Grenoble and what better than to cool off with
a beer in the garden or a swim in the pool? Contact details:

Small hotel just outside St.Omer - Le Relais du Romelaere is in the middle of the marches and is easy to find, just find the railway station in St-Omer and its 5 mins away. It's run by a couple called Patrice and Sonia, they speak very good English and she is a very good cook. The parking is very safe, excellent value and it's less than an hour from the boat/tunnel. [Peter Schneider Aug 2007] |

Chateau de Cocove in Ardres near Calais makes for a great place to visit for lunch or to stay after or before a long ride through France. Their cuisine is excellent! |
South
|
The Auberge de la Madonne in the perched village of Peillon near Nice is
an absolute must if you are travelling in the area and
enjoy good food and great views!! |
South West |
La Vieille Auberge, a Logis de France hotel is an 18th century family inn in the small village of Port de Lanne some 20km from Bayonne near the
border with Spain. The Club stayed here in 1994 on the Green
Spain trip. Apart from comfortable accommodation
(some of which are individual chalets), a colourful garden
with swimming pool and excellent food, there is an interesting
collection of articles on view tracing the history of Gascony.

The Belvedere Hotel at Nadrin in the heart of the Ardennes region used to be an old hunting lodge and is a regular stopping place for PEMC groups. Great value for money and again great roads around!! |
Ardennes
|
If you are travelling on the A4 Autoroute or the N40 just
north of Neufchateau and fancy some food, then turn off
at exit 27 and head north on the N40 for a mile or so
on the Route de Neufchateau. You will see "Le

Jacques and his wife very hospitable and the food was
absolutely great and good value. |

A hotel regularly used in the past by the PEMC is Hotel-Restaurant Johanniskreuz (site in German with music!) which is set in the middle of

A
hotel that none of the 16 members present on the "Visit to the Pilsen Brewery" trip in 1992 will
forget, was the Schloss Thiergarten just

splendid evening meal. The telephone number we have is +49 (0)9209 9840 E-Mail: schlosshotel-thiergarten@t-online.de |
South |
The Alpengasthof Bad Rain Hotel (site in German) in Oberstaufen in Southern Germany close to the border with Austria provides an excellent base from which to tour around this beautiful area. And, if the hotel name has anything to do with the weather, then the comfort of the rooms, the indoor swimming pool and the food and drink provide alternative attractions to sightseeing! |
West of Kassel |
A
memorable stay was at the Hotel Schloss Waldeck during the infamous "Eight Knights in Castles" trip in 1993. Who of those on this trip will forget watching the tremendous firework display from the castle's parapets? |
Hotels / Places to Eat - Italy
Dolomites
|
If you are in the vicinity of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Italian Dolomites then we can recommend a wonderful lakeside restaurant just to the north of Cortina: the Ristorante Lago Ghedina. |

The delightful Hotel Stella D'Italia in the Italian/Swiss border village of San Mamete with its terraces on the edge of Lake Lugano makes for a great base to ride around the lakes and mountains of Northern Italy and Switzerland. |
Tuscany
|
The Hotel la Valle in
Cutigliano located in the hills of northern Tuscany, Italy turned out to be great 'value for money', being the cheapest accommodation by far on the Red Italy trip in '95. In addition, the food was typically Italian - great tasting and plenty of it!! |
Hotels / Places to Eat - Spain
