Motorcycling has had to fit around the stress and fortunes of an active business life, now with a move into semi-retirement I am able to do more of what has been and hopefully will be for a long time to come a vital part of my life, motorcycling.
I forget how many motorcycles I’ve owned over the last 46 years, I recall a Velocette MSS, Velocette GTP and an Ariel Square 4 in my past stable, along with a host of Japanese bikes including one of only 48 Suzuki Cobras imported into the UK, Triumphs from Meriden and Hinckley and various Italian bikes of one sort or another. Today, I have returned to what was my first motorcycling love all those years ago Harley Davidson – I now have a Street Glide which will be doing a fair amount of miles in attending many of this year’s club events and continuing to explore this great country of ours and of course the occasional HOG rideout and event!
I spent much of my working time in the Far East and was based in Hong Kong for a time. I took my Harley Davidson FXE of 1984 vintage with me. The last of the shovel heads and one of the few bikes I have ever regretted selling. I became a member of the Hong Kong HOG chapter and still have my charter jacket to prove it. Magic Times which have come back again with the ownership of a Glide..
I am delighted to become an officer of the club. Motorcycling for me over the last 48 years has been a major part of my life and since joining the PEMC the enjoyment has been magnified several fold. Being editor is an opportunity to repay part of what the PEMC has given me. I’ve been a member of a host of motorcycling clubs throughout the years but I can honestly say that the PEMC is probably the best motorcycling club in the world.
